BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Saint Louis track and field continued its strong start to the season, achieving numerous career bests and several first-place finishes at the Gladstein Invitational at Indiana University Saturday.
Margo Richardson brought home a first-place finish and a new school record in the 5,000 meters with a time of 16:48.14, while Annika Gomell placed second overall in the event with a PR of 16:58.05. Jessica Hoefert was fifth in the 5K with a time of 17:21.82.
Kita Alvares won the 600 meters, crossing the finish in a PR of 1:35.45.
Hannah Rohde finished sixth in the 400 meters with a time of 58.07. Allison Walter was fifth in the 400-meter dash Invitational race with a time of 57.48.
Naya Owusu, the reigning Atlantic 10 Conference Performer of the Week, was fourth in the high jump with a mark of 1.69 meters.
The women's 4x400-meter relay team of Alvares, Walter, Emma Kidd and Rohde established a new school record, finishing third in a time of 3:47.3.
On the men's side, Griffin McCurren finished 10th in the 200 meters and 400 meters with times of 23.52 and 51.51, respectively.
Stewart Van Horne was second in the 600 meters with a time of 1:24.51, while Andrew Sloan was fourth in a time of 1:27.60. In the Invitational heat of the 600, Luke Hibbeler was sixth with a time of 1:24.05.
Michael Scolarici was fourth overall in the 5,000 meters with a time of 14:52.18, with Jack Hostettler coming in eighth with a PR of 15:15.97.
A pair of Billikens placed in the top 10 in the 800 meters. Albert Marban was fifth overall with a time of 1:56.23, while Pat Sheil finished seventh in a time of 1:56.30. Both times were personal bests.
The Billikens return to Bloomington next weekend for the Indiana Relays, beginning Friday, Jan. 31 and concluding Saturday, Feb. 1.
