ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis senior forward Robert Kristo has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Week, as announced by the league office. In addition, Kristo was named the National Player of the Week by CollegeSoccerNews.com.
Kristo scored the game-winning goal in the 75th minute in the victory against VCU last Friday. The win helped the Billikens secure the No. 2 seed in this week's A-10 Championship in Richmond, Va.
A Missouri Athletic Club Hermann Trophy candidate, Kristo leads the Billikens with 11 goals this season. He is tied for third in the country among all active NCAA Division I players with 90 (38G, 14A) career points.
A native of St. Louis (Parkway North High School), Kristo led the Billikens in scoring in his first three seasons. Should he do it again, he would be the first Billiken since Brian McBride (1990-93) to lead SLU in goals in all four years.
In this week's national polls, the Billikens are No. 10 in the NSCAA rankings. SLU also checks in at No. 11 in the CollegeSoccerNews.com and TopDrawerSoccer.com polls.
