ST. LOUIS – Four Saint Louis players scored in double figures, and the Billikens shot a blistering 68 percent from the floor in the second half in a 74-63 victory over SIUE Monday night at Chaifetz Arena.

SLU evened its record at 1-1, while SIUE slipped to 0-2.

Denisha Womack (5-of-8 FG) led the Billiken offense for a second consecutive game. Womack narrowly missed a double-double, scoring 17 points and grabbing a game-high nine rebounds. Jamesia Price's 15-point effort included two 3-pointers and a 7-of-8 effort from the foul line.

SIUE's Shronda Butts led all scorers with 18 points. Micah Jones had 15 points and eight rebounds, CoCo Moore scored 15 points, Gwen Adams chipped in eight points and eight rebounds, and Tierny Austin contributed five assists.

SLU owned a 19-10 lead with 11:16 to play in the first half, but SIUE finished the half with a 20-7 outburst that gave the Cougars a 30-26 advantage at intermission.

However, the Billikens connected on their first seven second-half shots, including a pair of 3-pointers, in an 18-6 run that resulted in a 44-36 lead.

Saint Louis used a Kemph 3-pointer and a Vliet three-point play to stretch the lead to 52-41. SIUE narrowed the gap to 58-52 after Moore hit a trey at the 8:10 mark, but the Cougars would draw no closer.

The Billikens put the game away with an 11-2 spurt over the next six minutes. Price ignited the run with a layup, Womack netted three free throws and a layup, Price connected twice from the stripe, and Stipanovich finished the run with a layup for a 69-54 cushion with 2:39 remaining.
