AMHERST, Mass. – Saint Louis senior Margo Richardson brought home the Atlantic 10 Conference title in the 1,500-meter run Sunday at the A-10 Championships in Amherst, Mass.
Richardson posted a first-place time of 4:29.60 in the 1,500 meters to become the first Billiken to claim an A-10 title in a women's outdoor running event. Richardson, one of the most decorated women's runners in school history, is also the owner of two A-10 crowns in the indoor mile.
Several Billikens claimed All-Conference honors by finishing as runners up in their respective events. Naya Owusu placed second in the high jump with a mark of 1.75 meters. Luke Hibbeler turned in a second-place showing in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 52.69. Michael Reader finished in a tie for second in the high jump, recording a mark of 1.94 meters, which was good for All-Conference honors.
The women's team turned in a sixth-place showing, matching its best-ever finish at the A-10 meet. The men placed ninth.
Allison Walter was fourth in the 400 meters with a time of 55.12. Annika Gomell finished third in the 5,000 meters with a time of 16:57.45.
Three Billikens finished in the top five in the 10,000 meters. Jessica Hoefert was third overall with a time of 34:36.63. Gomell was fourth with a time of 34:48.62, while Isabel Liebfreid placed fifth with a time of 35:40.58.
Kita Alvares was third in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:00.32. The women's 4x400-meter relay squad, comprised of Walter, Hannah Rohde, Alvares and Laura Schlueter, finished third in a time of 3:47.61. Hannah Kuenzel was fifth in the discus with a heave of 44.70 meters.
On the men's side, Michael Scolarici placed fourth overall in the 5,000 meters with a time of 14:53.51. Tim Bianco was fifth in the shot put with a mark of 13.94 meters.
