THE BASICS

--Saint Louis held Massachusetts to four second-quarter points en route to a 10-point halftime lead, and the Billikens went on to defeat the Minutewomen 69-49 in Atlantic 10 Conference action Wednesday night at Chaifetz Arena.

--The Billikens improved to 13-4 overall and 3-1 in the A-10 with their third consecutive victory. Massachusetts fell to 6-10, 0-4.

HOW IT HAPPENED

--Saint Louis led by seven points on three occasions in the first quarter, but UMass finished the period with a 7-2 run to cut the lead to 16-14.

--The Billikens scored the first 12 points of the second quarter to build a 28-14 advantage. The Minutewomen were held scoreless until the 1:23 mark of the quarter, and SLU took a 28-18 lead to the locker room.

--UMass pulled to within eight points twice early in the third quarter, but SLU took command with an 11-0 run during which five different players scored.

--The Bills led 50-33 after three, then stretched the margin to 26 before settling for the final score.

BILLIKEN NOTABLES

--The Billikens are 3-1 in conference play for the first time ever.

--The Bills have nine victories by 10 or more points this year, one more than they had all of last season.

--SLU committed just nine turnovers, its third single-digit total of the season, and outscored UMass 18-6 in points off turnovers.

--A big part of the Billikens' 45-36 rebounding advantage came on the offensive glass, where Saint Louis grabbed a season-high 19 offensive caroms. That led to an 18-7 edge in second-chance points.

--The Billikens also earned big advantages in points in the paint (38-22), fast-break points (10-0) and bench scoring (30-16).

--Jackie Kemph and Maddison Gits tied for team-high scoring honors with 12 points apiece. Kemph added a game-high five assists, while Gits collected six rebounds including a career-high five offensive boards.

--Jamesia Price tallied 11 points (5-of-5 free throws), three assists and three steals.

--Sadie Stipanovich hauled in a game-high nine rebounds.

--Olivia Jakubicek gathered a season-high eight rebounds, while Jordyn Frantz secured a career-high four.

--Bria Stallworth, 17 points, three assists; Cierra Dillard, 10 points; Alyssa Lawrence, eight points, six rebounds; Kymber Hill, eight rebounds; Maggie Mulligan, seven rebounds.
