THE BASICS
--Jackie Kemph hit a 10-foot pull-up bank shot with 2.2 seconds remaining to lift Saint Louis to a 51-49 Atlantic 10 victory over Fordham Sunday afternoon at Rose Hill Gym.
--The Billikens (21-6, 11-3 Atlantic 10) added to their school records for total wins and conference wins. SLU also tied a school mark with its ninth road victory of the season.
--The victory assured the Billikens of finishing among the top four teams in the conference standings, giving them a double bye to the A-10 Championship quarterfinals.
--Fordham fell to 12-15, 7-7.
HOW IT HAPPENED
--Saint Louis led 41-37 after three quarters and extended the margin to eight, 47-39.
--Fordham buried three 3-pointers in a 10-2 run to knot the score at 49.
--Both teams had two empty possessions before Kemph dribbled around a screen to the left side of the lane, pulled up and banked in what proved to be the game winner.
--Fordham's last-second attempt to tie was just off the mark.
--The Billikens came out of the gate on fire, scoring on six of their first nine possessions to build a 14-3 lead. Five different players scored during the run.
--Fordham outscored SLU 9-4 the rest of the first quarter to narrow the gap to 18-12.
--The Rams continued their momentum in the second quarter, trimming the Saint Louis lead to 20-19.
--The Billikens answered with two buckets from Sadie Stipanovich and one from Kemph to make it a 26-19 game.
--That was all for the SLU offense the rest of the period, however, as Fordham used a 9-0 spurt to grab a 28-26 halftime edge.
--The Rams led 34-33 in the third before the Billikens went on an 8-3 run to end the period with a 41-37 lead, setting the stage for the dramatic fourth quarter.
BILLIKEN NOTABLES
--After entering Thursday night's contest vs. Duquesne having played just one game decided by five or fewer points, the Billikens have played two such games in a row. SLU is 3-0 in those games.
--The Billikens earned a 37-28 advantage on the boards, held Fordham to 36 percent field goal shooting and outscored the Rams 30-12 in the paint.
--Kemph (9-of-17 FG) had game highs of 21 points and six assists and added four rebounds.
--Jenny Vliet contributed 10 points (4-of-4 FG, 2-of-2 3-pointers) and seven rebounds, including a game-high and career-high-tying four offensive boards.
--Sadie Stipanovich had eight points and five rebounds.
--Denisha Womack collected seven rebounds.
--Jamesia Price became the Billikens' career leader in steals (189). Price had four thefts and hauled in six rebounds.
FORDHAM LEADERS
--Lauren Holden, 12 points; Danielle Burns, 12 points; Samantha Clark, 11 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, two blocks; G'mrice Davis, eight points, nine rebounds.
