THE BASICS
--Saint Louis took a 3-0 first-inning lead and never looked back in a 10-2 victory over La Salle Saturday afternoon in game two of an Atlantic 10 Conference doubleheader.
--La Salle won the opener 4-3.
--The split left the Billikens with an 11-18 overall record and a 3-2 A-10 mark. La Salle is 8-15, 1-4.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 1
--A three-run home run in the bottom of the first inning gave La Salle an early lead.
--Saint Louis scored twice in the sixth. Elizabeth Everingham smacked an RBI single, and Alyssa Tarquinio's RBI single that followed Allie Macfarlane's two-out double made it 3-2.
--The Billikens pulled even in the seventh. Emma Buckles singled with two away and scored on Mackenzie Peter's double.
--A leadoff homer in the bottom of the seventh gave La Salle the win.
BILLIKEN NOTABLES – GAME 1
--Buckles was 3-for-4, including a double.
--Everingham was 2-for-3.
--Brianna Lore shouldered the loss despite striking out seven and allowing just four hits and two walks.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 2
--Alex Nickel led off the game with her fourth home run of the season, and the Billikens registered two more first-inning runs on a wild pitch and a passed ball.
--Macfarlane launched a three-run homer, her fourth of the year, with two outs in the third to give Saint Louis a 6-0 cushion.
--La Salle scored twice in the fourth, and the Explorers had the bases loaded with nobody out when Lore relieved starter Laney Kneib. Lore induced a 1-2-3 double play and a lineout to keep the score 6-2.
--In the Billiken sixth, Lore delivered at the plate with a three-run double.
--Madeline Brungardt closed the scoring with a two-out RBI double in the seventh.
BILLIKEN NOTABLES – GAME 2
--Macfarlane added a single to her home run.
--Brungardt also recorded a single.
--Everingham singled and walked.
--Tarquinio registered a single.
--Lore chalked up the win to improve to 7-9. She fanned three and allowed just one hit over three innings.
--Maddie Baalman pitched a scoreless seventh and struck out two.
