THE BASICS

•Saint Louis' offense exploded for 11 runs and 12 hits in an 11-2 victory over George Washington in game one of an Atlantic 10 Conference doubleheader Friday afternoon at GW Softball Field.

•George Washington won the nightcap 10-2.

•The split left the Billikens with a 16-19 overall record and a 5-8 A-10 mark.

•George Washington is 21-18, 4-7.

GAME 1 – HOW IT HAPPENED

•Saint Louis grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning on Allie Macfarlane's two-out RBI single.

•George Washington answered with a run in the second.

•The Billikens took command with a five-run fifth. Alex Nickel's RBI single was followed by Mackenzie Lawson's three-run home run, her third homer of the season. Macfarlane's RBI triple brought home the fifth run of the inning.

•SLU tallied three times in the sixth. Nickel squeezed home a run with a bunt single, Mackenzie Peter delivered an RBI single, and Macfarlane drew a bases-loaded walk.

•After GW scored its second run in the sixth, the Billikens plated two more runs in the seventh. Emma Buckles produced an RBI double and later scored when Josie Knesel stole second.

GAME 1 – BILLIKEN NOTABLES

Maddie Baalman evened her record at 8-8. Baalman struck out five and scattered seven hits.

•Buckles (two doubles) and Nickel had three hits apiece.

•Macfarlane and Knesel each had two hits.

GAME 2 – HOW IT HAPPENED

•The Colonials built a 5-0 lead with a run in the first, two in the second and two in the third.

•The Billikens got back in it with two runs in the fifth. Lawson and Macfarlane registered RBI singles.

•George Washington clinched the victory with five runs in the bottom of the fifth.

GAME 2 – BILLIKEN NOTABLES

•Nickel and Knesel collected a single apiece.

•The Billikens and Colonials conclude their three-game series at 11 a.m. (CT) Saturday.
