THE BASICS
•Allie Macfarlane became Saint Louis' career RBIs leader with a walk-off grand slam as the Billikens defeated La Salle 9-0 in five innings Saturday afternoon at the Billiken Sports Center.
•Maddie Baalman tossed her third shutout of the season as SLU improved to 18-20 overall and 7-8 in the Atlantic 10 Conference.
•La Salle fell to 16-20, 4-9.
HOW IT HAPPENED
•Saint Louis stranded five runners through the first three innings before finally breaking through with a run in the fourth on Josie Knesel's bases-loaded walk.
•The Billikens exploded for eight runs in the fifth, seven of which were scored with two outs. Taylor Meeks drove in the first run with a one-out single, Emma Buckles made it 3-0 with a two-out double, and Knesel delivered a two-run single to increase the lead to 5-0. Following a walk that loaded the bases, Macfarlane lined her team-leading eighth homer of the season over the wall in right-center to clinch the victory.
BILLIKEN NOTABLES
•Macfarlane increased her career RBI total to 124, one more than previous record-holder Lindsay Friedman. She added a single to her grand slam.
•Baalman improved to 10-9, matching her career high for victories in a season. She struck out seven and allowed just three hits and one walk.
•Mackenzie Lawson (double) and Mackenzie Peter collected two hits apiece.
