THE BASICS
•Mackenzie Peter had three hits and three RBIs in Saint Louis' 4-3, 7-5 Atlantic 10 Conference doubleheader loss to La Salle Sunday afternoon at the Billiken Sports Center.
•The Billikens slipped to 18-22 overall and 7-10 in the A-10. La Salle improved to 18-20, 6-9.
GAME 1 – HOW IT HAPPENED
•Saint Louis grabbed a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on Peter's two-out RBI double.
•La Salle scored three runs in the top of the fifth.
•The Billikens got one of those runs back in the bottom of the fifth on Alex Nickel's fourth home run of the season leading off the inning.
•The Explorers made it 4-2 with a tally in the sixth.
•Peter answered with a leadoff homer in the bottom of the frame, her seventh of the year.
•SLU drew two walks in the bottom of the seventh but could not push across the tying run.
GAME 1 – BILLIKEN NOTABLES
•Taylor Meeks registered a single.
•Maddie Baalman allowed just two earned runs in five innings.
GAME 2 – HOW IT HAPPENED
•La Salle plated two runs in the first and added four in the second for a 6-0 lead.
•Allie Macfarlane got the Billikens on the board in the third with a two-out, two-run single.
•La Salle made it 7-2 in the fourth.
•Saint Louis got back in it with three runs in the fifth. Peter drew a bases-loaded walk, Alyssa Tarquinio came through with an RBI single, and Hailey Weavers delivered a sacrifice fly.
•The Bills put two runners aboard in the sixth but could not capitalize.
GAME 2 – BILLIKEN NOTABLES
•Macfarlane collected three hits.
•Weavers had a double.
•Nickel, Peter, Josie Knesel, Mackenzie Lawson and Emma Buckles chalked up a single apiece.
•Kaylea Chappelle retired nine of the 10 batters she faced in three innings of relief.
