THE BASICS
-- Saint Louis kept its Atlantic 10 Conference Volleyball Championship hopes alive with a convincing 3-0 sweep over Duquesne on Friday night. The Billikens won the sets 25-17, 25-15 and 25-19.
-- The Billikens improve to 6-19 overall and 5-8 in A-10 play, while Duquesne falls to 12-14 and 6-7 in the league.
-- SLU can qualify for next week's A-10 Championship with a win over La Salle on Sunday at Chaifetz Pavilion.
FIRST SET
Saint Louis used a balanced attack in the first set to set the tone. SLU registered a .344 attack percentage in the set. After going down 4-1 early on, SLU snagged a 5-4 lead and did not trail the rest of the way. Sara Daniels led the way for SLU with five points (three kills, two aces) in the set.
SECOND SET
Back-to-back kills by Lauren Mershon gave the Bills a 2-0 lead at the outset and they cruised the rest of the way, leading by as many as 12 points at 20-8. Mershon ended the set with five kills, while Sien Gallop had two service aces.
THIRD SET
SLU led for the majority of set three. After being down 3-2 early, the Bills reeled off the next five points to take a lead they would not relinquish. Two-straight kills by Isabelle Walsh made it 17-7, and Maya Taylor would seal the match with back-to-back kills to clinch the decisive third set.
NOTABLES
-- Maya Taylor led the Billikens' attack with 10 kills. She also recorded five digs.
-- Giovanna Charles registered eight kills and no errors on 23 swings for a .348 attach percentage.
-- Isabelle Walsh went off for eight kills and four digs.
-- Lauren Mershon posted eight kills and had three black assists.
-- Kennedy Cordia had a double-double with 36 assists and 10 digs.
-- Also registering double-digit digs were Cayce Chaykowky (13) and Sien Gallop (10).
-- The Billikens hit .314 as a team.

The Billikens are in action against on Sunday to close out the regular season, as they face La Salle at Chaifetz Pavilion at 1 p.m. Prior to the match, Jenny Backus, Katia Haak, Monica Loftus and Camila Rivas will be honored in Senior Day ceremonies.
