FIRST SERVE
Saint Louis hosts Kansas City, Missouri State and Southeast Missouri this weekend at Chaifetz Pavilion for the Missouri Challenge.
 
The Billikens face Missouri State on Thursday, Sept. 18, at 6 p.m., then take on Kansas City on Friday at 7 p.m. SLU concludes the tournament Saturday, Sept. 20, against Southeast Missouri at 3 p.m.
 
FOLLOWING THE ACTION
All three of SLU's matches will be streamed on ESPN+. Fans can follow live stats for all six matches using the links provided here.
 
ABOUT THE BILLIKENS
The Billikens dropped to 5-3 after a tough weekend at the Cyclone Invitational. Tamia Maddox led the way with 20 kills. Six Billikens recorded double-digit digs, while Jetta Brenning and Lucy Rankin each posted a double-double against Omaha. Chloe Maughan was named to the Cyclone Invitational All-Tournament Team.
 
Kayla Jansen leads the Atlantic 10 with a .380 hitting percentage. Ellie Rink paces the team with 84 kills.
 
ABOUT THE OPPOSITION
Missouri State:
The Bears are 4-4 to begin the season and were picked ninth in their first year in Conference USA. MSU features a young roster with seven freshmen and six sophomores. Peyton McKee leads the team with 77 kills, while Hannah Gardner became the first freshman in program history to record a triple-double earlier this year.
 
Kansas City: The Roos are 1-9, with their lone win coming against Jacksonville State. Kansas City was picked eighth in the Summit League preseason poll, with Ledisi Kpea and Kailee Deffebaugh tabbed as players to watch. Ryanne Wattree leads the team with 83 kills and 2.59 kills per set. The Roos also feature seven freshmen.
 
Southeast Missouri: The Redhawks are 5-4, with just one loss to a non–Power Four opponent. SEMO was picked to win the Ohio Valley Conference in the preseason poll, with Alaina Lester on the OVC Player Watchlist. Lucy Arndt leads the team with 108 kills, while Alandry Below and Megan Holder each have more than 140 assists.
