THE BASICS

Saint Louis began the 2018 season with an 8-0 loss to host team Bradley Thursday night in the opening game of the Petersen Hotels Invitational.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Bradley scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Braves added a run in the third, three in the fourth and two unearned tallies in the sixth to clinch the win.
• Saint Louis had at least one baserunner in each of the first five innings but couldn't push a run across. The Billikens stranded two runners in the third and again in the fifth.

• Allie Macfarlane registered a single.
• Kaylyn Breitbach walked twice.

The Billikens play twice Friday, taking on Miami (Ohio) at 9 a.m. and Washington at 11:30 a.m.
