GAME DETAILS

Game 1 – Saint Louis 6, La Salle 4

Game 2 – Saint Louis 2, La Salle 0

Saturday, April 28, 2018

Philadelphia, Pa.

THE BASICS

• Saint Louis lifted its Atlantic 10 Conference record above .500 with a 6-4, 2-0 doubleheader sweep at La Salle Saturday afternoon.

• The Billikens improved to 24-25 overall and 9-8 in the A-10. La Salle fell to 12-30, 3-15.

• The sweep moved SLU into fifth place in the A-10 with four league games remaining. The top six teams qualify for the A-10 Championship.

Maddie Baalman and Kallen Loveless were the winning pitchers. Baalman registered a career-high 13 strikeouts, walked only one and allowed three earned runs and six hits in the opener. Loveless notched her second career shutout, tossing a 5-hitter and issuing no walks in the nightcap.

GAME 1 – HOW IT HAPPENED

• La Salle led 1-0 following a first-inning leadoff home run.

• With two runners on and two out in the top of the fourth, Alyssa Chavez delivered her sixth home run of the season for a 3-1 Saint Louis lead.

• The Billikens made it 4-1 on Allie Macfarlane's two-out RBI single in the fifth.

• La Salle narrowed the gap to 4-3 with two runs in the sixth.

• An error in the SLU seventh helped the Billikens score a pair of two-out, unearned insurance tallies. A Macfarlane double and a Kaylea Chappelle single drove in the runs.

• La Salle plated an unearned run in its final turn, but Baalman fanned the potential tying run for the third out.

GAME 1 – BILLIKEN NOTABLES

• Macfarlane was 3-for-4.

Kat Lane, Alyssa Tarquinio and Kaylyn Breitbach had a single apiece.

• Baalman evened her record at 14-14. She is one victory away from tying her career high for wins in a season.

GAME 2 – HOW IT HAPPENED

• Macfarlane's bases-loaded walk in the third inning gave the Billikens the only run they would need.

• SLU doubled its lead in the fifth when Lauren Lomax scored on a wild pitch.

GAME 2 – BILLIKEN NOTABLES

• Loveless (4-5) did not allow a La Salle runner to reach third base.

• Lane was 2-for-4.

Sadie Wise, Breitbach, Maria Connell and Lomax each had a hit.
