THE BASICS
• Kaylea Chappelle drove in three runs and registered a victory in the circle as Saint Louis defeated La Salle 6-4 Sunday afternoon, completing a sweep of a three-game Atlantic 10 Conference series.
• The Billikens evened their overall record at 25-25 and improved to 10-8 in the A-10. La Salle slipped to 12-31, 3-16.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Sadie Wise's 16th home run of the season, a two-run shot, put Saint Louis on top 2-0 in the top of the first inning.
• La Salle answered with four runs, all unearned, in the bottom of the first.
• The Billikens pulled even in the third. Chappelle led off the inning with her fourth homer of the year, and Alyssa Chavez drove in the tying run with a groundout.
• The score remained tied until the sixth. SLU loaded the bases, and with two away, Chappelle rapped a line-drive single that plated two runs.
• La Salle brought the potential tying run to the plate in the sixth and seventh innings but did not score.
BILLIKEN NOTABLES
• Chappelle (7-6) tossed six innings. She struck out three, allowed six hits and no earned runs, and did not walk a batter.
• Kallen Loveless pitched the seventh inning and collected her second save.
• Kat Lane had two hits.
• Lauren Lomax doubled, while Alyssa Tarquinio, Maria Connell and Mackenzie Lawson picked up a single apiece.
