THE BASICS
• Saint Louis concluded play in the Marcia E. Hamilton Classic on Saturday, falling to Kansas State and Marquette.
• Sien Gallop was named to the All-Tournament team. In three matches, Gallop averaged 2.7 kills and 2.7 digs per set, posted a .239 attack percentage and added two service aces.
Kansas State Match
FIRST SET
Saint Louis rebounded from an 8-5 deficit to grab a 10-9 lead. A 6-2 Kansas State run was answered by SLU's 4-1 spurt that forged a 16-16 tie. But the Wildcats tallied the next four points, and nine of the last 11, for a 1-0 match lead. Sien Gallop (six) and Maya Taylor (four) combined for 10 kills.
SECOND SET
Neither team led by more than two points until K-State went on top 12-9. SLU responded with a 5-0 flurry to lead 14-12. The set was knotted at 17 but again the Wildcats surged late, using an 8-2 run to close the set.
THIRD SET
The Billikens never trailed after jumping in front 4-0, although K-State pulled even at 8, 9, 10, 15 and 17. This time it was SLU's turn to finish strong as the Bills notched eight of the final 11 points to get back in the match. Saint Louis was aided by five service aces.
FOURTH SET
SLU took a 3-0 lead and held an 11-7 advantage before K-State began inching its way back. The Wildcats turned a 16-14 deficit into a 20-16 edge with a 6-0 run, and the Billikens drew no closer than three points the rest of the way. Taylor registered six kills in the set.
NOTABLE
• Taylor collected a match-high 17 kills and completed a double-double with 11 digs.
• Gallop turned in 15 kills and hit .364 (15-3-33). She also had 11 digs.
• Isabelle Walsh had eight kills and a .333 attack percentage (8-3-15).
• Kennedy Cordia and Cayce Chaykowsky recorded nine digs apiece. Cordia added 26 assists.
Marquette Match
FIRST SET
Ater Marquette raced to a 9-3 lead, Saint Louis scored five of the next seven points to make it an 11-8 contest. However, the Golden Eagles chalked up the next four points and were in command the rest of the way.
SECOND SET
The Billikens led 8-6 after scoring three straight points, only to see the Golden Eagles go on a 6-0 run on their way to a 2-0 match lead.
THIRD SET
Marquette used another 6-0 spurt to gain a 7-2 advantage, but Saint Louis chipped away and drew to within a point, 13-12. The Golden Eagles regained control with a 4-0 run, and the Billikens drew no closer than three points. Taylor had six kills in the frame.
NOTABLE
• Taylor had a team-high 13 kills.
• Chaykowsky produced a match-high 13 digs.
• Cordia chipped in 19 assists and eight digs.
• Gallop posted eight kills and eight digs.

Saint Louis is in Terre Haute, Indiana, for Indiana State's Sycamore Invitational. The Billikens will face Central Michigan, Green Bay and Indiana State.
