THE BASICS

Jordyn Frantz and Ciaja Harbison combined for 33 points, and Saint Louis outscored George Mason 22-9 in the third quarter on its way to a 60-53 Atlantic 10 Conference victory Thursday night at Chaifetz Arena.

The Billikens improved to 9-12 overall and evened their A-10 mark at 4-4 at the halfway point of the league schedule. George Mason, which saw its three-game winning streak snapped, fell to 11-9, 3-4.

Frantz did much of her damage in the first half, scoring 12 of her team-high 17 points in the first 20 minutes. Harbison carried the load in the second half, netting all 16 of her points following intermission.

FIRST QUARTER

George Mason scored the first four points, but Saint Louis answered with a 7-0 run to go on top 7-4.

Mason pulled even twice, 7-7 and 9-9, before Kendra Wilken's jumper gave SLU the first-quarter lead for good, 11-9. The Billikens were on top 14-13 at the buzzer.

SECOND QUARTER

Flowers made a layup and Frantz buried a 3-pointer early in the period to put Saint Louis ahead 19-13.

The Billikens led 24-20 with 4:17 remaining, but the Patriots tallied the last eight points of the quarter and took a 28-24 advantage to the locker room.

THIRD QUARTER

SLU came out strong with an 11-4 run, including six points from Harbison, and led 35-32 with 6:00 left.

Mason knotted the score at 37 at the 4:12 mark, but Saint Louis took command the rest of the way. Kerri McMahan ignited a 9-0 spurt with a three-point play, and it was 46-37 Billikens heading into the fourth quarter.

FOURTH QUARTER

The Patriots whittled the margin to four, 50-46, with 5:41 to play, but buckets by McMahan and Harbison on SLU's next two possessions pushed the lead back to eight at the 4:12 mark.

Mason pulled to within six twice, the second time a 56-50 count with 2:06 remaining. However, Harbison and McMahan made two free throws apiece on either side of a defensive stop to give the Bills a 10-point cushion inside of a minute, and another defensive stop sealed the win.

BILLIKEN NOTABLES

Saint Louis out-rebounded George Mason 37-34.

Frantz's 17 points included a 3-of-6 effort from 3-point range. She added five rebounds.
