A LOOK AT THE BILLIKENS
• Saint Louis closes its nonconference schedule with three games in six days, and the first two contests take place at Robert R. Hermann Stadium this weekend. Iowa State of the Big 12 Conference is the opponent Friday, Sept. 13, at 7 p.m., while Purdue of the Big Ten Conference comes to town Sunday, Sept. 15, for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
• SLU looks to rebound from last Sunday's 2-0 loss at Oklahoma State. Annabelle Copeland (Courtney Reimer assist) and Hannah Friedrich scored in a 2-0 win at Oral Roberts two days earlier.
• Saint Louis and Iowa State have met twice. The Cyclones won 2-0 in St. Louis in 2013 and 2-1 in Ames in 2014.
• SLU and Purdue are squaring off for the first time in regular-season play, although the teams have met in spring action.
• Saint Louis is enjoying the offensive balance it has featured the past two years. Six different player combinations have accounted for the Billikens' six assisted goals this season.
• A 3-0 victory over Drake Sept. 1 gave the Billikens a 28-1-4 record in their last 33 games at Hermann Stadium, a stretch that dates to the final home game of the 2015 season.
• After scoring a school-record 30 points last year, Hannah Friedrich leads the 2019 team so far with five points (2G, 1A).
• Evie Lavelle is tied for the Atlantic 10 Conference lead in assists (three). Mary Niehaus is tied for first in shutouts (two), second in goals against average (0.62) and third in shutout percentage (.842).
• After winning Atlantic 10 Conference regular-season and tournament titles and posting a school-record 18 wins a year ago, the Billikens were selected to finish atop the league again in the A-10 head coaches' preseason poll. Seven starters and 10 additional players are back from SLU's 2018 team.
• Senior defender Alli Klug appears on the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List for a second straight season. Klug also is one of four Billikens on the A-10 preseason All-Conference team, joining senior goalkeeper Mary Niehaus, senior midfielder Courtney Reimer and sophomore forward Hannah Friedrich.
• Saint Louis will host the semifinals and final of the 2019 Atlantic 10 Conference Championship Friday and Sunday, Nov. 8 and 10. Four first-round games will be played on the home fields of the top four teams in the final regular-season standings, with the winners advancing to SLU's Robert R. Hermann Stadium.
