ST. LOUIS – U.S. Soccer announced today that Saint Louis freshman forward
Stefan Stojanovic has been added to the U.S. Under-20 Men's National Team training camp, which is taking place until Jan. 19 at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.
Â
The 24-player camp already includes SLU freshman keeper
Patrick Schulte, who is making his second appearance with the U.S. U-20 MNT in the last five months. The Billiken teammates are among just four collegiate players taking part in the camp.
Â
The camp is being directed by new U-20 MNT head coach Anthony Hudson. The squad will face Mexico on Jan. 16 and 18 at IMG.
"We are truly happy for Stefan to get another chance to put on the U.S jersey," SLU head coach
Kevin Kalish said. "It is a unique opportunity for him to be able to seize the moment and make a strong impression on the new coaching staff. We know both Stefan and Patrick will represent the Billikens with pride and show their character and fighting spirit."
Stojanovic is no stranger to the U.S. Soccer callups, having participated in U.S. Youth National Team camps. As a freshman for the Billikens in 2019, Stojanovic appeared in all 17 games and assisted on the game-winning goal in the SLU win against Tulsa.
Â
The training camp will provide Hudson his first chance to work with the U-20 player pool ahead of this summer's Concacaf U-20 Championship, where the USA will look to defend its confederation title after winning the 2017 and 2019 editions. The U.S. is set to take on Costa Rica, Jamaica and St. Kitts and Nevis in the group stage of the tournament.
