Schulte Called to U-20 MNT Training Camp

Camp will take place at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.

ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis freshman goalkeeper Patrick Schulte has been called to the U.S. Under-20 Men's National Team for a training camp and a pair of matches against Mexico.

Schulte and the U.S. U-20 MNT will take part in the training camp from Jan. 7-19 at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. The squad will face Mexico on Jan. 16 and 18 at IMG.

"We are excited for Patrick to get another opportunity to represent his country," SLU head coach Kevin Kalish said. "He had an excellent first season as a Billiken and has put in a tremendous amount of work to make sure he is prepared for the upcoming camp."

Schulte is one of 24 players called by new U-20 MNT head coach Anthony Hudson. Schulte is one of two collegiate players on the roster.

The training camp will provide Hudson his first chance to work with the U-20 player pool ahead of this summer's Concacaf U-20 Championship, where the USA will look to defend its confederation title after winning the 2017 and 2019 editions. The U.S. is set to take on Costa Rica, Jamaica and St. Kitts and Nevis in the group stage of the tournament.

Last September, Schulte participated in a U-20 MNT training camp and matches in Slovenia.

Schulte, an Atlantic 10 Conference All-Rookie selection, had an impressive freshman campaign in goal for the Billikens. He had a 1.05 goals against average and eight shutouts. Schulte played every minute between the posts except for the Billikens' game at SMU, which he missed as he was with the U-20 MNT in Slovenia.
