THE BASICS
• No. 3 seed Saint Louis takes on No. 7 Massachusetts in the semifinals of the 2021 Atlantic 10 Championship Saturday, March 13.
• Tip is at 3 p.m. CT on CBS Sports Network.
• The winner advances to Sunday's tournament final, the winner of which earns an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship. Sunday's tip is 11 a.m. CT, and the game will be televised on ESPNU.
• The Billikens and Minutewomen met twice during the regular season, splitting at Chaifetz Arena Jan. 22 and 24. UMass won the first game 78-62, and SLU captured the second contest 63-52.
QUICK HITTERS
• In the first SLU-Massachusetts regular-season game, Rachel Kent tallied 13 points and nine rebounds; Julia Martinez and Myia Clark scored 10 points apiece, with Martinez adding six rebounds and six assists; and Myriama Smith Traore had nine points and nine boards.
• Brooke Flowers tied the school record of 21 rebounds, scored 11 points and had five blocks in the rematch. Ciaja Harbison recorded 18 points and five assists; Kent contributed 13 points and six rebounds; Smith Traore netted 10 points; and Martinez chipped in six rebounds and four assists.
• Saint Louis brings an eight-game winning streak into the semifinals, just one shy of tying the school record set during the 1978-79 season. The eight-game streak is the Billikens' longest against an all-Division I schedule.
• During its eight-game streak, SLU has allowed its opponents an average of just 56.3 points. Only two opponents scored 60 or more points.
• The Billikens concluded the regular season as the A-10 leaders in field goal percentage defense (.348), fewest turnovers (12.7 tpg) and assist-turnover ratio (1.12:1). SLU is second in the league in blocks (5.0 bpg) and assists (14.3 apg).
• Harbison is averaging 18.9 points over the last eight games.
• Kent has been on a tear of her own during the streak, averaging 14.8 points. She has buried at least three 3-pointers in seven of the eight games (including four vs. Richmond in the quarterfinals), shooting 43 percent (25-of-58) from the arc.
• Flowers has five consecutive double-digit rebound totals, averaging 12.6 boards during that stretch. She also has been an accurate shooter lately, connecting on 52 percent (36-of-69) over the last seven outings.
• Smith Traore has turned in back-to-back 17-rebound efforts (vs. Davidson in the regular-season finale, and vs. Richmond in the quarterfinals). Twelve of her 34 rebounds in those games were on the offensive glass.
• Julia Martinez led the conference with a 2.70:1 assist-turnover ratio during regular-season play. Also ranking among the league's top five prior to the A-10 Championship are Harbison, second in scoring (17.4 ppg) and minutes (37.1 mpg) and third in free throw percentage (.810); Kent, second in 3-pointers per game (2.5); Smith Traore, third in field goal percentage (.525) and offensive rebounding (3.3 orpg) and fifth in rebounding (9.1 rpg); and Flowers, third in blocks (2.4 bpg) and fourth in rebounding (10.2 rpg).
