ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis has accepted a bid into the National Invitation Tournament and will take on Mississippi State in its first game on Saturday, March 20. Game time at Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas, is 4 p.m. (CT) on ESPN.
The 2021 NIT is hosted by Conference USA and the University of North Texas. All games played at either Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas or UNT Coliseum in Denton, Texas.
The Billikens are one of four No. 1 seeds in the 16-team field, and they are the third team in line as a replacement team for the NCAA Championship field.
The winner of the SLU/Mississippi State matchup advances to face the Richmond/Toledo winner in the quarterfinals on March 25. The semifinals take place March 27, with the title game and third-place game being held March 28.
Saint Louis will be making its 19
th appearance in the NIT. The Billikens won the 1948 NIT behind the play of Hall of Famer "Easy" Ed Macauley. Saint Louis has finished as the runner-up in three NITs – 1961, 1989 and 1990.
