ST. LOUIS — Saint Louis women's basketball shas four former Billikens playing professional basketball overseas this coming season. Whether earning league honors, competing for championships, or joining national teams, Brooke Flowers, Sevval Gül, Kyla McMakin, and Camreé Clegg are continuing to elevate their game and proudly represent SLU on the international stage.
Brooke Flowers (2018-23) is continuing her professional basketball journey in Croatia, signing with ZKK Zadar Plus in the Women's Premier League after a dominant season in the UK with the Essex Rebels. She led the Super League Basketball Women (SLBW) in blocks per game (2.8) and earned a spot on the league's Defensive Team of the Year. "It has been such a rewarding experience to play the game in new places while experiencing new cultures," Flowers said. "My time abroad has already taught me so much about the game and about myself, and I'm excited to see what else I learn along the way!"
Sevval Gül (2021-23) enters her third professional season, returning to her home country of Turkey signing with powerhouse club Galatasaray. Gül began her pro career with Emlak Konut (EuroCup participant), then played for Orman last season while training with the extended Turkish National Team roster for EuroBasket 2025. "Coming back home to play is special," Gül says. "But professional basketball has taught me that success takes relentless discipline, patience, and mental toughness every single day."
Fresh off an undefeated championship season with Itihad Riadhi de Tanger in Morocco, Kyla McMakin (2022-24) showcased her scoring prowess, averaging 22 points and 4 rebounds per game. While her next destination is still in the works, McMakin remains grateful for the experience saying, "I am grateful for the opportunity to travel and experience new cultures while doing the sport I love."
After a year of focused preparation, Camreé Clegg (2022-24) is set to begin her professional career with ZKK Spartak in Subotica, Serbia. "With a lot of patience, prayer and hard work, I'm happy to be playing my first season professionally," said Clegg. "I'm ready to get started and good luck to everybody this year — excited to see what y'all do."
"Camreé, Sevval, Brooke, and Kyla are living proof of what we talk about in our program," head coach
Rebecca Tillett said. "Dream our biggest dream. Achieve it. Then go dream another big one. They are traveling the world, learning new cultures and languages, and elevating programs in the process."
