Springfield, Mo. - In Saturday's match on the grass of Plaster Field in Springfield, the Bears defeated the Billikens 2-1 in the final NorPac and regular season game of 2000.

Junior midfielder Sue Albers (St. Louis, Mo. / Cor Jesu) opened the scoring with an unassisted goal with 18:02 left in the match's first half.

Following right behind, the Bears' Abigail Rolfe put one between the pipes with 17:37 left in the half. Rolfe was assisted by Stephanie Dixon. Mollie Reichard was assisted by Justine Schramke and Natalie Hoffman to make the final score of the half, and in the game, with 3:35 left on the clock.

In goal for the Billikens, junior Erin Linehan (State College, Pa. / State College Area) made eight saves while the Bears' Monnie Elzy made three. The Billikens were awarded three penalty corners to the Bears' nine. A yellow card was issued to Andrea San Martin of SMS with 30:11 remaining in the second half which carries a five-minute suspension from the game.

Both Saint Louis and Southwest Missouri State will meet at the Anheuser-Busch Conference & Sports Centre in Fenton, Mo., for the NorPac Tournament Nov. 2-4. There is no admission charge for the Tournament. The A-B Centre is located just west of I-270 from I-44 on Soccer Park Road.

California, the No. 1 seed has a bye in the first round on Nov. 2. No. 4 seed Pacific will meet No. 5 Davidson at 10 a.m., No. 6 SLU will face No. 3 Stanford at 12:30 p.m. and No. 2 seed SMS will play No. 7 Appalachian State at 3 p.m.

Friday's matches will also be played at 10 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. On Sat., Nov. 4, the games will begin at 9 a.m. for fifth place, 10:30 a.m. for third place and the championship match will start at 1 p.m.
