Field Hockey Billikens Tame Lions at Lindenwood

St. Charles, Mo. - Saint Louis University's field hockey team earned its fourth win of the season by downing Lindenwood University 11-0 in St. Charles, Mo., improving the Billiken record to 4-7 overall and remaining 1-2 in the Northern Pacific conference.

The Lions, in just their second year of field hockey, remain winless at 0-6.

Goals in the first half were scored by junior midfielder Sue Albers (St. Louis, Mo. / Cor Jesu) 32:19, freshman forward/midfielder Stephanie Knight (Louisville, Ky. / Assumption) 8:55 and 5:44, senior back Jenny Schwartz (St, Louis, Mo. / Cor Jesu) 2:59 and freshman midfielder/back Lindsay Lombardo (St. Louis, Mo. / Nerinx) 1:20. Knight began the second half by netting her third goal of the match at 33:00 followed by freshman forward/midfielder Alisa Hebert (Louisville, Ky. / Assumption) 32:15. Junior forward Keri Brunner (St. Louis, Mo. / Cor Jesu) scored at 30:24, junior midfielder Kristen Burich (Louisville, Ky. / Sacred Heart) 29:01 and again at 15:16 with Brunner closing out the scoring romp at 11 with 2:36 remaining on the clock.

The Lions failed to take a shot on goal against the Billiken defensive line.

Junior goalkeeper Erin Linehan (State College, Pa. / State College Area) started the match with sophomore Leslie Kearns (Edmond, Okla. / Casady) taking over the net at the beginning of the second half. The two shared the shutout.

The Bills will host the Big Ten's Michigan State (6-5) at the Anheuser-Busch Conference & Sports Centre on Thu., Oct. 5, at 1 p.m. The game was rescheduled from Sept. 23 when inclement weather and threatening lightening forced the cancellation in Evanston, Ill.
