South Bend, Ind. - No. 21 Notre Dame hit over .300 for the first two games and held off a late Saint Louis charge to post a 3-0 victory over the Billikens in non-conference action on Tuesday. Game scores were 15-5, 15-5, 15-10. Colleen Hunter led the Bills with 20 kills, 15 digs, five blocks and hit a robust .447 for the match.

"I was encouraged by how we fought back late," said head coach Marilyn Nolen. "We were down in the third game but we played well late in scoring 10 straight points. Ember and Colleen both played well. We blocked well and with the late momentum, this will set us up to play well this weekend in two important conference matches."

The Irish registered a .316 hitting percentage and held the Billikens to just a .140 mark in the first game and moved on to a 15-5 victory. The Billikens improved to a .222 percentage in game two but Notre Dame continued its hot hitting and notched 19 kills en route to hitting .310. In game three, the Billikens were down 13-0 but put on a spirited charge. Saint Louis rattled off 10 consecutive points to close the gap, but the Irish held off the late rally and moved on to a 15-10 victory.

Ember Knobeloch notched 10 kills and chipped in four blocks. Missy Werges added seven kills. For Notre Dame, Christi Girton had 15 kills and 11 digs while Kristy Kreher added 13 kills. The Irish improve to 22-5 while the Billikens fall to 11-16.
