Stats

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Saint Louis University women's soccer team played to a 2-2 tie at Charlotte tonight at Transamerica Field. The Billikens were up 2-0 just 25 minutes into the match, but the 49ers relentless pressure evened the match in the 55th minute to salvage the tie. Charlotte out-shot the Billikens 18-5 in the match, forcing Saint Louis keeper Meghann Burke into nine saves.

Down 2-1 in the second half, the 49ers got the equalizer in the 55th minute. Abbie Allison found Megan Terlip on the left side. Terlip was just inside the box four yards deep when she sent a drive that just scooted under the diving Burke. Charlotte kept up the pressure in the second half, outshooting the Billikens 7-1 in the period.

Saint Louis' defense held up in the two over time periods as the 49ers had just missed a goal in each frame. In the first OT, Christy Johnson nearly drove on by Burke, but the Billiken keeper made the save and the Billiken defense cleared the rebound. In the second OT, it was Lindsay Duncan who had a great look at the goal and pushed the ball just wide.

The Billikens took an early lead on two quick goals in the first half. Freshman Jamie Perry got on the board first in the game's 23rd minute with a drive across the face of the goal that tucked just inside the far post. After a Billiken corner, the 49ers failed to clear the ball, and Tressa Pecher popped it out to Perry on the left side all alone. The team's leading scorer drove the ball past keeper Jenn Howell into the corner. Sophomore forward Anny Lucier added an insurance strike less than two minutes later with a 30-yard loft just over the leaping Howell off a pass from Erin Schwetye.

The 49ers got one back with just four minutes left in the half. Johnson broke in on the goal and took a shot right at Billiken keeper. Burke blocked the first shot, but Duncan was there to put away the rebound.

With the tie, Saint Louis improves to 6-6-1 over all and 3-3-1 in Conference USA. Charlotte ends the night with a7-4-3 overall mark and a 5-1-0 C-USA record.

The Billikens continue their road trip, traveling to East Carolina for a 10 a.m. match on Sun., Oct. 21.
