Women Dominate Double-Dual

ST. PETERS, Mo. - Saint Louis women's swimming dominated its double-dual meet at the St. Peters Rec Plex Saturday, topping host Lindenwood 89-25 and beating Rose Hulman 103-10. The Billiken women won all 14 events in the meet and picked up second place in eight of those races as well. The men also overpowered Lindenwood 78-35 and Rose Hulman 94-25 but lost to UM-Rolla 82-30.

Four Billiken women doubled up on victories. Senior Megan Capellupo posted a 10:51.55 to win the 1000 free and later swam the 100 breast in 1:05.97. Junior Kelly Tessar's 1:58.65 in the 200 free was good enough for first, and she won the 500 free as well with a time of 5:17.09. Junior Maggie Norton won the 50 free in 25.98 and took the 100 back in 1:03.41. Sophomore diver Erin Lasinski swept the one and three meter boards with scores of 225.80 and 213.75, respectively.

Sophomore Meredith Grass added a first in the 200 IM with a time of 2:15.51, while sophomore Jenny Valentino won the 100 fly in 1:01.33, and sophomore Emily Oberjohn posted a 56.64 to win the 100 free.

For the men, UM-Rolla claimed first in all 12 swimming events, but SLU senior diver Bobby Wolf picked up victories on the one and three meter boards, scoring 259.55 and 242.20, respectively. Sophomore Josh Stephens finished second in the 100 fly in 54.02. Junior Christopher Johansen's 4:59.71 in the 500 free was good for second, and freshman Tim Adams picked up second place inthe 100 breast witha time of 1:01.89.

The Billikens are off until Sun., Nov. 14, when they travel to Indianapolis, Ind., to take on Butler, Evansville and IUPUI.
