The Saint Louis University field hockey team dropped a 4-1 decision to James Madison this afternoon, in a match played in East Lansing, Mich.
Mary Henry got the game off on the right for the Billikens. She netted a Carin Boone pass 3:04 into the game, for a 1-0 lead. The goal was the second of Henry's collegiate career, and gives her the team lead in that category.
The Dukes answered 6:50 later, on a goal from Baillie Versfeld, her first of two goals. Ashley Walls netted the game winner for JMU with just over 10:00 to play in the first half, and Amy DeCecco gave JMU a 3-1 lead 10:32 into the second half of action.
Amy Wasserman played the entire game in net for the Billikens, making eight saves. In the two games played in East Lansing, Wasserman made 22 saves.
"We played very well against two very strong teams this weekend," said head coach Maria Whitehead. "Today against JMU was a great effort and I am excited about our potential."
SLU (2-3) had five shots and five penalty corners in the contest.
The Billikens will return to action this weekend, traveling to Oxford, Ohio, for matches with Miami (OH) and Davidson.
