Field Hockey Drops 4-2 Decision To Miami

OXFORD, Ohio - The Saint Louis field hockey team dropped a 4-2 decision this afternoon to host Miami University.

In soggy conditions in the first-half,the Billikens (2-4) struck first. Catherine Donovan scored an unassisted goal 21:15 into the contest. That held up for 12 minutes, until Christine Loyd tallied her first of two goals for Miami (2-4). The score remained 1-1 at the intermission.

Loyd netted her second goal at 40:08 in the second half. The Billikens answered just four minutes later, as Kristin Lueders netted a pass from Jill Mueller. The RedHawks wasted little time though in regaining the lead, when 49 50 seconds later, Danielle Gaynor scored. Meghan McMurtry added an insurance goal for the host in the 56th minutes.

Amy Wasserman made five saves in the game, while her Miami counterpart, Kerri Orr, had two stops. Both keepers played the entire contest for their respective teams.

SLU was outshot 13-9 in the contest and had two penalty corners, to the eight for Miami.

The Billikens will play Davidson on Sat., Sept., 17, at 1:00 p.m. That contest will be played in Oxford, Ohio.
