Louisville, Ky. - The Saint Louis field hockey team dropped a 6-1 decision to host and 13th ranked Louisville this afternoon in Louisville, Ky. The Bills fall to 3-5 with the loss, while the Cardinals improve to 8-2.
Ashlea Hibshman provided the offense for the Billikens, who fell behind 1-0 at 10:36. Hibshman, on her first career goal, tied the score at 14:50. Mary Henry sent a pass form the middle of the circle, which Hibshman collected on the left side, and put behind the goalkeeper. Catherine Donovan had the Billikens only other shot of the game.
Amy Wasserman continued to play every minute for the Billikens in goal. She took the loss, as she faced 20 shots, making seven saves in the outing. Marie-Claire Heller played the entire game in net for the Cardinals, allowing the one goal, and not making a save.
Jessica Javelet had a big day for the Cardinals on offense, finishing with seven points. She had a hat trick, including the game-winning goal, and added an assist in the win.
Louisville is the third ranked team that the Billikens have played this year. SLU forced overtime with #6 Michigan State, before falling 2-1, and fell 4-1 to #19 James Madison.
The Cardinals also lead the nation in goals per game, averaging 4.83 goals per game through action on Sept. 18.
The Bills will face Syracuse on Sat., in a neutral site game to be played on the Louisville campus.
