Field Hockey Falls 3-1 To Syracuse

Louisville, Ky. - After a scoreless first-half, the Saint Louis field hockey team could not contain Syracuse, falling 3-1 in Louisville, Ky., this afternoon.

Amy Wasserman made three of her four saves in the first half, as she helped maintain a 0-0 score at intermission. The Orange (4-4) however wasted little time in the second half. Syracuse scored 1:56 into the second half, when Paige Sullivan scored unassisted. The Orange scored twice more, both on penalty corners, at 41:03 and 48:10, to take a 3-0 lead.

SLU (3-6) got on the scoreboard via the penalty corner as well. Kristin Lueders scored her team-high fifth goal at 56:13, but the Bills could get no closer. Jill Mueller and Michelle Sinclair recorded assists on the Billiken goal.

The Bills recorded 10 shots and had three penalty corners. The Orange managed 15 shots and were awarded nine penalty corners in the outing.

Heather Hess made six saves for the Orange.

The Bills, who have played six consecutive road games, finally return home. SLU will host Lindenwood on Wednesday at the Anheuser-Busch Center.
