Billikens Dominate Duquesne in Final Match at Bauman-Eberhardt

ST. LOUIS - The Saint Louis Billikens swept Duquesne 30-11, 30-16 and 30-18 in their final match at the Bauman-Eberhardt Center on Thursday evening. The Bills (19-6, 8-3 A-10) tallied their second-highest hitting percentage of the season at .410 in the match.

SLU started with a 7-0 run and continued to dominate the Dukes throughout game one. Duquesne tallied a -.033 hitting percentage while the Bills hit at a .486 clip. Three of the Dukes' 11 points, the lowest point total allowed by the Billikens this season, came from SLU service errors. Lasater tallied a game-high six kills, followed by five from Sammi McCloud.

Duquesne started game two with more fire staying within one point of the Bills until Saint Louis went on a 6-0 run to take a 16-10 lead. The Billikens put together their strongest run of the game, nine points, for a two-game advantage. Duquesne improved from game one with a .042 hitting percentage while earning five points on Billiken service errors. Lasater and McCloud each added five kills for the Billikens.

The Dukes took the lead at the beginning of game one, until the Bills responded with an 11-2 run to make the score 12-5. Duquesne erased as seven-point deficit by cutting SLU's lead to 14-13. But SLU broke away on a 15-3 run to regain control of the game. Lasater tallied the final point at the Bauman-Eberhardt Center with a kill to win the game and match. Once again, the Bills held Duquesne to a negative hitting percentage at -.069 while hitting .400 themselves.

Lasater had a match-high 18 kills while McCloud and Sally Warning each had 12. McCloud turned in her seventh double-double of the season with 11 digs as well. No Duquesne player tallied more than four kills as the Dukes hit -.024 for the match.

Seniors Chrissy King and Sutton Lasater were honored before the game. King ranks 12th on Saint Louis career service aces with 98. Lasater has led the Billikens in blocks each year of her career and became the fourth player in program history to surpass 1,000 kills and 500 blocks for her career last weekend.

Next up, the Billikens will travel to Rhode Island for a noon (CT) contest Sunday, Nov. 4.
