Final Stats

West Chester, Pa. - West Chester's Alisha Morgan's goal two minutes into the contest proved to be the game winner as the Saint Louis Billikens dropped their second Atlantic 10 Conference field hockey match 3-0. The game was played in a driving rainstorm.

"We might have played our best overall game of the year today," Billiken head coach Katherine Deem kept us in the game, especially in the first half, and made some good saves. Alex Weber and Kelsey Shultz generated scoring chances for us, but we just could not find the back of the cage."

On the first shot of the day in wet and windy conditions, Morgan found the back of the cage to put the Rams on top 1-0. Sophomore Katherine Deem was outstanding in goal. The junior came up with back-to-back save sequences four minutes apart midway through the half to keep the Billikens close. The Rams tested Deem in the 22nd minutes, but she posted three more saves in the flurry. She finished the half with eight saves to keep the game 1-0.

Ten minutes into the second half, West Chester struck again to build a 2-0 lead. The Billikens responded with their best offensive charge of the day. Sarah Lohman put a shot on goal in the 49th minute but was pushed wide by Zarefoss. Three minutes later, Alex Weber launched a shot that just went wide. Kelsey Shultz nearly put SLU on the board at the 54:31 mark, but her shot was saved. The Rams clinched the game with their final tally with just under eight minutes left to play.

The Billikens stand at 1-12 overall, 0-2 in the A-10, and the Rams improve to 7-7 and are 2-0 in conference. The Billikens close out their trip to eastern Pennsylvania with a game at La Salle Sunday, Oct. 18.
