Michigan tallied three goals in the first 10 minutes of play and moved on for a 7-0 win over Saint Louis in a field hockey match played in Evanston, Ill.
"I liked how we played in the second half and competed against a good Michigan team," head coach Alex Weber and Lauren Noe played especially well, and we received great effort from Morgan Threatt which led to a scoring chance."
Meredith Way, who leads Michigan in scoring, tallied 1:46 into the game to give the Wolverines the only tally they would need. Three minutes later, UM notched another score, and Michigan pushed the margin to 3-0 at the 10:14 mark. The Billikens managed a shot by Alex Weber but did find the back of the goal as Michigan took a 5-0 lead at halftime.
In the second half, Katherine Deem made nine saves in the game, as the Billikens fell to 1-9. Michigan improves to 5-7. Saint Louis returns to action Sunday in a 1 p.m. game against No. 17 Northwestern.
