Temple Holds Off Billikens

Oct. 30, 2009

Final Stats

Fenton, Mo. - Saint Louis sophomores Lauren Noe both tallied a goal and an assist, but Temple held off the Billikens 6-2 at the Anheuser-Busch Center. The Atlantic 10 Conference match was played in wet and rainy conditions in Fenton, Mo., on Friday afternoon.

The Billikens nearly took the early lead but Temple goalie Sarah Dalrymple came up with a kick save to keep the game scoreless. Bridget Settles put the Owls on top in the 12th minute when she tipped in a shot. Kimmi Hanshue scored on a penalty stroke, and the Owls eventually settled for a 3-0 lead at halftime.

Early in the second half, the Billikens mounted a charge and broke through with a tally. Noe drilled a hard, low shot off a penalty corner as SLU cut into the gap 3-1 at the 37:10 mark. However, less than two minutes later, the Owls rebuilt a three-goal lead. The Billikens answered again when Kent converted off a pass from Noe at the 46:49 mark as SLU sliced the deficit to 4-2. However, Temple would not allow the Billikens to edge any closer, and the Owls tacked on two late scores to hold on for the win.

The Billikens are now 1-15 overall, 0-5 in the A-10. The Owls improve to 7-11 overall, 3-2 in conference. The Billikens host Saint Joseph's on Sunday, Nov. 1, at 1 p.m. SLU will honor three seniors in a ceremony just prior to the game.
