No. 17 Northwestern Posts Victory over Visiting Billikens

Evanston, Ill. - Courtney Plaster scored two goals in the first seven minutes of the game to lead No. 17 Northwestern past visiting Saint Louis in field hockey play in Evanston, Ill., on Sunday afternoon.

Plaster put the Wildcats on top 1-0 when she tallied at the 3:09 mark after a corner. Just over four minutes later, Plaster collected a loose ball in front of the SLU goal and scored for a 2-0 Northwestern lead. The Wildcats gradually pulled away in the half and took a 7-0 lead at intermission. Billiken goalie Katherine Deem was valiant in the first half and finished with 13 saves.

Lauren Noe also had a strong scoring chance in the second half. Deem finished the match with a career-high 16 saves. The Wildcats scored five goals in the second half to close out the scoring 12-1.

The Billikens fall to 1-10, and the Wildcats improve to 10-4. The Billikens begin Atlantic 10 Conference play Friday, Oct. 9, when they travel to Richmond for a 2:30 p.m. (CT) contest.
