Kevin and Theresa Lisch Named to ADA Scholar-Athlete Teams

April 9, 2009

Saint Louis University basketball players Kevin Lisch (Belleville, Ill. / Althoff) and Theresa Lisch (Belleville, Ill. / Althoff) have been selected to the sixth annual Division I-AAA Athletics Directors Association Scholar-Athlete teams. SLU was one of just two schools to have a member on both the men's and women's squads. It marks the third straight year a men's basketball player from SLU has been honored, while the women's team has had a student-athlete selected for the fifth consecutive season.

Kevin Lisch, who already has earned his undergraduate degree in business administration and is enrolled in the University's M.B.A. program, was selected to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America third team by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Kevin was named the Atlantic 10 men's basketball Student-Athlete of the Year, was an NABC All-District selection and collected third-team All-Conference honors. This season, he averaged a team-high 14.1 ppg and was second in the league in free-throw shooting at 83.2 percent, seventh in 3-point field goals made per game at 2.21 and 11th in 3-point field goal percentage at 38.7. He completed his career sixth on SLU's career scoring list with 1,687 points, ninth in assists with 325 and second in 3-pointers made with 259.

Theresa Lisch, a communication sciences and disorders major, became the second Saint Louis women's basketball player selected to an All-Conference first team and the first to earn that distinction in the A-10. She also became the first SLU women's basketball student-athlete to be named to the College Sports Information Directors of America/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America first team. In addition, Theresa was tabbed A-10 women's basketball Student-Athlete of the Year. She claimed five school records and tied another this season. Theresa set SLU standards for points in a season (574), free throws made in a career (406) and season (169), career free-throw percentage (.869) and points in a game (37 at La Salle).

Basketball players from all Division I-AAA NACDA member institutions are eligible for these prestigious teams, which honor 10 men's players and 10 women's players. Nominees are required to have a minimum grade point average of 3.20 (on a 4.00 scale) in undergraduate study and be a starter or important reserve with legitimate athletics credentials. He/she must have reached junior academic standing and participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games.
