Final Stats
Columbus, Ohio -
No. 18 Ohio State used a goal three minutes into the game and went on to post a 7-0 victory over Saint Louis in field hockey action in Columbus, Ohio, on Sunday.
"We had a better showing than we did on Friday at Kent State," Billiken head coach Lauren Bruce said. "A lot of young players gave good efforts. We are slowly getting there, and things are improving. We just need to keep working hard and get better as a team."
Berta Queralt scored at the 2:31 mark of the game to provide all the offense the Buckeyes would need. OSU kept up the pressure, but SLU goalie Katherine Deem made five straight saves to keep the Billikens within striking distance. However, Ohio State struck for three quick goals in just over four minutes to take a 4-0 lead into halftime. The Billikens were unable to find the back of the cage for the second straight outing and fell to 0-2 on the season. Ohio State wins its first game and moves to 1-1 on the year.
The Billikens head to Springfield, Mo., for two contests next week. SLU will take on Robert Morris and Missouri State over Labor Day weekend.
