St. Charles, Mo. -
Haley McCulloch scored the only goal of the game to lead Lindenwood to a 1-0 victory over Saint Louis in field hockey action in St. Charles Wednesday evening.

The Billikens pressed forward again, but Caitlin Erickson made two saves to keep SLU off the scoreboard. McCulloch took a pass from Irene Taranhike, spun in the middle of the circle and slotted a ball into the SLU goal for what would prove to be the lone tally of the evening at the 7:37 mark. The Billikens had three more chances in the first half, but went into intermission down 1-0.
The Billikens carried the play in the second half, taking seven shots while the Lions did not put a shot on goal. Molly Boyne had two shots stopped, including an excellent chance in the final minute. The Billikens launched four shots in the waning seconds but could not net the game-tying goal. Erickson kept SLU off the scoreboard and finished the outing with eight saves. The Billikens earned eight penalty corners, while Lindenwood had only five.
The Billikens fall to 1-6, while the Lions improve to 3-4. The Billikens return to action Saturday, Sept. 26, when Ohio visits the Anheuser-Busch Center for a 1 p.m. game.
