The Saint Louis women's swimming and diving team, led by Taylor Streid and Jordan Hagar, turned in one of its top performances of the season, winning nine of 13 events en route to a 139.5-65.5 victory over IUPUI in Indianapolis Friday afternoon. The Billiken men won six events to down the Jaguars 114-91.
After narrowly missing SLU's all-time top 10 in multiple events this season, Streid finally broke into the top 10 with a first-place effort of 10:43.32 in the 1,000 free. Her performance, which ranks fifth in SLU annals, is the fastest time by a Billiken this season. It is the first time that Streid competed in the event this season. She also went on to win the 100 back (59.21) with a personal-best effort that was less than half a second off the No. 10 time in school history.
Hagar was the only other SLU competitor to collect two individual victories against IUPUI, winning the 200 IM in 2:15.69 and the 100 fly in a season-best 1:00.02. Streid and Hagar also were members of the first-place 200-free relay (1:43.75). SLU also came in second in the 200-free relay (1:46.52). The Billikens finished 1-2-3 in the 100 back as Emily Kopec (personal-best 1:03.33) trailed Streid in second place and Elizabeth Molloy (1:04.59) came in third.
Other individual winners for the women's squad were Julia Pearson in the 50 free (season-best 26.27), Laura Robertson in the 100 breast (1:09.94). Pearson's victory was her first individual first-place touch of the season, while Culver captured her second first-place finish of the season.
The Saint Louis men's team won the 200-free (1:28.38) and 200-medley (1:39.01) relays in addition to four individual races. Adam Walsh also notching a season-best in second place (1:01.83).
