Final Stats

Fenton, Mo. - Defending Atlantic 10 champion Richmond scored a goal in the final minute of the first half and defeated Saint Louis 4-0 Friday afternoon at the Anheuser-Busch Center.

The Billikens played well in the first half and kept the Spiders off the scoreboard. Richmond launched eight shots towards the SLU cage. Junior goalie Alex LaBarge came up with three saves, and the Billiken defense blocked two other shots. Megan Rogers had a chance to put SLU on the board, but her shot attempt was blocked. However in the final minute of the first period, Richmond finally tallied a goal. Christiana Amorose dribbled up the left side of the field and slid a pass to the far post. Christin Hanley collected the ball and slid it just past LaBarge for a 1-0 lead 53 seconds before intermission.

The Spiders looked to stretch the lead after intermission, but the Billiken defense would not easily surrender a second goal. LaBarge stopped six Richmond shots in the second half to keep the Billikens close. In the 49thh minute, Chelsea Davies took a shot, which LaBarge saved, but the ball bounded back to Davies who scored on the rebound. Richmond converted a penalty stroke and closed out the scoring with a goal in the 67hth minute. Rogers had the best scoring chance for SLU in the second half but again her shot was blocked by the Spider defense.

The Billikens dip to 0-15 on the season, 0-2 in the A-10. Richmond improves to 6-8 overall, 1-1 in conference. SLU heads to Pennsylvania for three straight road contests next week.
