Junior Nicole Kent scored the first goal of the game for Saint Louis, but Lock Haven rallied past the visiting Billikens for a 4-1 win Tuesday evening in Atlantic 10 Conference field hockey play.
Kent, who scored her fourth goal of the season, put the Billikens on top at the 13:52 mark of the first half. Lock Haven countered by earning two penalty corners. On the second sequence, Teresa Lezama tallied 16 minutes into the game to forge a 1-1 tie. LHU tried to brake the tie, but Billiken keeper Alex LaBarge came up with four straight saves to keep the Lady Eagles off the scoreboard. However, in the 30th minute, Lock Haven scored to take a 2-1 lead at halftime.
Early in the second half, Lock Haven tested LaBarge, and the junior again denied the Lady Eagles. LHU nearly scored again but Natalie Gamez and Kelsey Shultz both had chances to tie the game but narrowly missed the LHU cage. Lock Haven added two scores late in the second half to seal the win.
LaBarge made eight saves on the evening for the Billikens who remain winless on the season and are 0-3 in the A-10. Lock Haven wins its ninth game in 10 outings and improves to 11-5 overall, 2-1 in the A-10.
