Nicole Fiorilla tallied in the second half as West Chester edged Saint Louis 2-1 in the season finale for the Billiken field hockey team. The contest was Senior Day for four members of the Billiken squad.
West Chester nearly scored just over two minutes into the contest, but senior goalie Katherine Deem made a save, and Kelsey Shultz hit a blistering shot just wide of the cage. West Chester earned a penalty stroke at the 6:53 mark, and Alisha Moran converted to give the Golden Rams the lead. The Billikens stormed right to tie the game. Shelby Dittmar. The freshman pivoted and fired a shot into the WCU cage to tie the game 1-1 with 5:59 to play in the first half.
WCU earned a corner early in the second half, and Natalie Gamez misfired from the left of the cage, and WCU saved Shultz's third shot of the day to preserve the narrow 2-1 margin.
Deem made four saves in her final appearance in a Billiken uniform, and SLU earned four penalty corners on the afternoon.
