Fenton, Mo. -
After battling to a scoreless draw in the first half, UC Davis pushed across two goals in the second period to edge Saint Louis 2-0 in field hockey action Friday.
In the fourth minute of play, the Aggies put two shots on goal to test SLU keeper Alex LaBarge. But the junior turned aside both shots. The Billikens countered and earned the game's first penalty corner. Kelsey Shultz had a good scoring chance midway through the period, but her shot just missed wide. The Aggies added a second score when Lindsey Valadez's shot deflected into the cage after a penalty corner scramble. The Billikens' best scoring opportunity in the second half came after a corner. Rogers had a hard low shot stopped in the 57th minute by UCD goalie Conley Craven.
The Billikens are 0-7, while the Aggies improve to 2-3. SLU returns to action Sunday, Sept. 19, when it hosts Central Michigan in a 2 p.m. start at the Anheuser-Busch Center. The field hockey alumni are holding a pre-game tailgate party which begins at 1 p.m.
