Despite goals from junior Chelsea Hower, Saint Louis dropped a 4-2 decision at home to Pacific Saturday afternoon at the Anheuser-Busch Center.
Pacific took the lead with two first-half goals. Jenna Vivian scored midway through the first half, and a Megan Pedersen tally put the Tigers on top 2-0. The Billikens had six shots in the first 35 minutes but were unable to muster a score.
However, the Billikens found the back of the cage just 15 seconds after intermission. Chelsea Hower deflected the ball into the goal as the Billikens closed to 2-1. Just 61 seconds later, the Billikens tied the score at 2-2. Kent broke free and launched a shot that rattled off the Pacific goalpost. The rebound came right back to the junior forward, and she slotted in the second chance to even up the game. Kent's tally is her third on the season.
The Billikens kept up the pressure but could not charge into the lead. In the 44th minute, Robin Nelson scored to put the Tigers back on top. The Billikens took 11 shots in the second half, but they were not able to level the match. Pacific scored again in the 55th minute to seal the win.
The Billikens outshot the Tigers 17-14 and had nine penalty corner to six for Pacific. SLU is still in search of its first win of the season and falls to 0-10. The Tigers win their first of the year and stand at 1-7.
