ST. LOUIS - Andrea Beaty and Alyssa Deno tallied a match-high 10 kills apiece, and Saint Louis registered a season-high hitting percentage in a 25-16, 25-16, 25-15 Atlantic 10 Conference victory over Temple Friday night at Chaifetz Pavilion.

Clarke dished out 31 assists, and Saint Louis hit .351 (41-8-94) collectively, its highest mark of the season. The Billikens' 41 kills are a season high for a three-set match.

The defensive effort was strong and balanced as well, as the Billikens (9-8, 5-2 A-10) held Temple (6-13, 2-4 A-10) to a .070 attack percentage. Grace Bonoma turned in nine digs, followed by Clarke and Ashley Gaillot with eight apiece, Deno with seven and Andrea Bolt with five. SLU outblocked Temple 9-2, led by Marcum (five), Schumacher (four), Emma Goldschmidt (four) and Clarke (three).

Gaillot served three of the Billikens' six aces.

Leading 14-13 in set one, SLU took command with a 5-0 run. Temple scored two straight points to make it 19-15, but the Billikens tallied six of the final seven points to take a 1-0 lead in the match.

Set two was never in doubt. The Bills sprinted to a 10-2 lead and expanded the cushion to 18-6 before cruising to the win.

Set three was tight early, with Saint Louis holding a 7-5 advantage. But the Billikens gradually started to pull away, and a 6-0 spurt put the lead at 19-9. The Owls drew no closer than eight points the rest of the way.

Collin Wallace and Gabriella Matautia led the Temple offensive attack with eight kills apiece, and Elyse Burkert added seven kills. Chelsea Tupuola had a match-high 14 digs, while Wallace added 10 digs.

The Billikens return to action Sunday, Oct. 16, hosting A-10 foe La Salle at 1 p.m.
