INDIANAPOLIS - Saint
Louis finished second among eight teams in the men's meet and third among nine
squads in the women's competition at the IUPUI House of Champions Meet Nov.
11-12.
The Billiken men captured five first-place finishes and
registered nine additional top-three performances on their way to 627.5 points.
The Billiken women scored 535 points, winning three events and turning in eight
other top-three efforts.
For the men's team, Zack Billingsley touched first in the 50
freestyle (21.45), while Chad Carmichael (284.10) and Billy Hrabovsky (280.45)
took home victories in the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events, respectively.
Also posting victories were the 200 medley relay team of Brian Brasser, Will
Butzke and Billingsley (1:35.24) and the 400 freestyle relay unit of Patrick
MacArt, Patrick May, Billingsley and Justin Pasquesi (3:09.01).
The women's team was led by Lizzy Osterman, who claimed
victories in the 500 freestyle (5:10.06) and 200 butterfly (2:09.61). Taylor
Streid was the winner in the 200 IM (2:08.68).
Turning in second-place finishes for the SLU men were
Pasquesi in the 200 freestyle (1:44.82); Carmichael in 3-meter diving (273.20);
Brasser in the 100 breaststroke (59.25); Hrabovsky in 1-meter diving (264.40);
and the 800 freestyle relay team of Dustin Anderson, MacArt, Mike Kelly and
Pasquesi (7:02.94). Placing third were May in the 50 freestyle (21.54); MacArt
in the 200 freestyle (1:45.88); Pasquesi in the 100 freestyle (48.25); and the
200 freestyle relay team of Butzke, May, Pasquesi and Billingsley (1:26.62).
Second-place performers for the Saint Louis women were
Jalynn Gieseke in the 100 butterfly (58.76) and 200 butterfly (2:11.43); Streid
in the 400 IM (4:36.82); the 400 medley relay team of Streid, Melanie
Battaglia, Gieseke and Osterman (4:02.39); the 800 freestyle relay quartet of
Streid, Osterman, Emily Kopec and Madelin Hansen (7:58.90); and the 400
freestyle relay squad of Osterman, Streid, Kopec and Gieseke (3:36.33). Hansen
was third in the 1650 freestyle (18:10.87), while Courtney Legastee finished
third in 3-meter diving (218.65).
The Billikens compete in the Missouri Championship
Invitational in Columbia Dec. 1-3.
