ST. LOUIS - Saint Louis cross country opened
its 2012 season this morning at the WUSTL Early Bird at Forest Park.
Running on a muddy course, junior Jessica Hoefert finished first among the Billikens on the women's
side - and third overall - with a 4K time of 14:53.8. Antonia Leyden was the next Billiken finisher, pulling in at 16:20.8
to finished 34th overall. Brooke Restoff
was 47th with a time of 16:31, while Emily
Meingast finished 59th in a time of 16:49.2.
On the men's side, freshman Nathan Rubellke enjoyed a solid collegiate debut, running a 6K in
20:19.6 to finish 25th overall. James
Collins placed 38th with a time of 20:34.0, while rookie Jeff Orf placed 76th in a time of
21:34.5 in his first collegiate meet.
The Billikens return to action next Friday, Sept. 7, for the
Forest Park Cross Country Festival. The collegiate race begins at 4:30 p.m. at
Central Field in Forest Park.
