LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Lisa Smith tallied her team-leading second
goal of the season, but it wasn't enough as Saint Louis dropped a 4-1 field
hockey contest against Robert Morris Sunday morning. The match was played at a
neutral site at the University of Louisville's Trager Stadium.
Saint
Louis dips to 0-4 on the season, while the Colonials improve to 3-1. The
Billikens remain in Louisville to face Appalachian State (0-3) tomorrow
morning.
Robert
Morris struck early, scoring in the 11th, 17th and 19th minutes to get out to a
3-0 lead.
Smith
got the Billikens on the board just before halftime. Tori Lycett sent a pass from the right side of the cage to Smith,
who buried a shot past the RMU goalie. Smith, who also scored in the season opener
at Pacific, now leads the team in goals (two) and points (five). It was
Lycett's first assist of the season.
In an
evenly played second half, with SLU outshot Robert Morris 4-3 in the frame.
But the Colonials scored their fourth goal of the contest in the 63rd minute of
play, and hung on for the 4-1 decision.
SLU
goalie Megan Depew-Brady made seven
saves for the Billikens. Smith had a team-leading two shots on goal, while Lexie Lindblad also recorded a shot on
goal.
